Four Firms Merge to offer high-end Internet & Intranet Development

KITCHENER, Ontario (January 6, 1997) Addressing the growing need for high-end Internet and Intranet development, President Douglas Braun today proudly announced the launch of The Galileo Group Inc. Created in 1996 from the merger of four local firms (Vinette Consulting Services, Sitton Information Systems, BusinessLink Technology Group Inc., Multimedia), The Galileo Group's key members offer a wealth of experience, talent and state-of-the art technology.

Primarily servicing Southern Ontario, Galileo will focus on medium to large sized firms looking to take advantage of the Internet both externally and internally. "Many firms have waited in the shadows while the Internet was undergoing that first growth explosion," says Bryon Thur, Galileo's Vice President of Sales & Marketing, "and are now beginning to make professional, well planned moves. This requires a high level of integrated database functionality, customized programming and graphic design, especially for Intranet applications."

Intranets are essentially computer networks which distribute information using Internet applications and protocols. "The Internet is a very open-ended and non-proprietary environment," says V.P. of Information Systems, Denis Vinette, "which makes it ideal for organizations looking to enhance their internal communications structure." To fill these requirements, the Galileo Group offers customized services aimed at making information systems more efficient.

Although the focus of Galileo will be with developing corporate Intranets, they will also offer web site design, integration and hosting for businesses of all sizes. Common examples of applications include online interactive product catalogs, shopping malls and customer support utilities.

"The 'net is expected to double in size again this year," says Thur, "and we are positioned to offer products and services which will allow companies to make the most out of the resource. With over 50 million estimated users on the network, it is becoming more and more important for firms to take a serious look at what it can do for them. We are looking forward to a very exciting future."
